I would like to know other racers opinions about diesel trucks and such on the dragstrip. These days people are making massive power from diesels and they are getting more popular in the drag race world. Would you have any issues with a diesel bellowing black smoke down the track? Positive or Negative let me know what you think.

diesels belong at the truck pulls, not the dragstrip.

The reason that I bring this question up is I have a Diesel drag truck. I have a 1146hp Ford Ranger. It's a twin turbo 4bt that dynos at 846hp with a 300hp shot of NOS. It will blow black smoke about 16 feet out of the stack. Some people like them some people don't. I just don't want to get hassled by other racers.

As racers, no one should care. We are there to race no matter whats in the other lane. Tracks should require turn ups on the exhaust. As a safety precaution.

The problem is people do complain about diesels. Some people think that the smoke will make the track slick. The way I see it, if the track is prepped properly it shouldnt matter. There are diesel only drag races that the tracks hook perfectly at. And yes they do draw a big crowd also, it could also be a money maker for the track.

Only way i see track being slick from diesel is fuel not all getting burnt. But other than that i see no problems. I know they pull a few guys at MCIR on fridays. A few of the trucks run in the 11's. Never had a problem fallowing them.

Why would anyone have a problem with diesels? I say the more, the merrier. This sport needs all the participants we can get.

So then it sounds like only two people will complain if I bring my truck up to Pacemakers. Maybe it's just Malibu owners that don't like diesels.... lol. I have it for sale at the moment, if it does not sell then I will be up this season. If anyone else wants to add a coment please do. I put this post up to get EVERYONES opinion. Thanks

b wendling: Yes sir, Actually I did not build the truck I bought it. If you want to check it out do a Google search for " 4bt ranger wayne ".That is a Diesel Power Magazine article on the truck before the BIG turbos were put on.

Jeffery Racing: Sorry if you think I dogged you. I was simply stating how much of a cry baby some racers can be. Most racers are great people, but the one that are a@#holes make it hard on someone trhat is not the "normal racer". I grew up racing at Pacermakers and know that almost everyone that races there regularly are great people. Thats why I wanted to drive 3 hours to race there. Thanks for your comment.

I hear Edgewater will let you run anything you want. There's also Kil Kare, MCIR, Trails, Bowling, Green. Hell, if you're up for a trip, Norwalk and Milan like those odd-ball vehices. Maybe the RRA would like to have you at Thompson or Quaker. Just saying..................
