Here are two of the 2014 NHRA rules that went into detail on December 14.
1. Effective Jan. 1, 2014, All removable multi-piece exhaust collectors/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether, or a minimum ½” (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube to prevent loss of collector/stacks during competition. A current list of NHRA-accepted header tethers is available on NHRARacer.com.
2. Jr Dragster side panels: Any portion of the body side panels that extend upward into the driver’s line of sight must be clear and permit an unobstructed horizontal view for a minimum of 180 degrees.
It has been observed that drivers in cars not meeting this new rule are much more likely to loosen their seatbelts, lean out of the roll cage, and attempt to see their opponent at the finish line.
