First off I am not hiding behind a screenname I just didn't know the rule when I registered. I guess I have been reading this message board for a few years now. I have always loved cars and always wanted to race. Due to life and all sorts of things I never had the money or oportunity or whatever. A year and a half ago my Dad and I made a decision we were going to make it happen. We went and got a shell out of a junkyard and with the help of friends. Three generations of my family put a lot into building the car. A year ago this friday that car hit the track for the first time and I told them we need to take it to pacemakers and we did and it didn't run very well and probably still doesn't run like most of your cars, but man have we had a lot of fun. I ran pacemakers quite a bit last year but unfortunately I have only made it there once this year, but have not missed many shots at getting out there and having fun.

I guess the point I want to throw out there is I am not a great racer. I have only been doing it a year I am getting better though, but when I read a lot of the posts on here I think some of you guys have forgotten when you started. Think about that thrill of that first pass think about the thrill of getting that first car going down the track. Think of the look on the face of your Dad or mom or son or daughter when you came back into that pit after a round win. Think back to that first win.

Life is not always fair we could lose all this in a heartbeat. I know you all love to race, enjoy it. I know somethings are wrong and some things should be changed and things like that, but in the end it doesn't matter a whole lot cause we could be in a position of not being able to do what we love.

I plan on being up at pacemakers twice more before the season is over and I can tell you I will enjoy every moment of it. I will spend a good day outside with my family and I will probably red light and lose at some point and get ribbed, but It will be a good day. Well that is as long as bargo doesn't wander through my pit again with no shirt on like he did the last time to watch from the fence. Come on that was funny right there.

Andy

Sounds like you have a pretty good start Andy. I remember the first car I ever raced I think was a 1982 plymouth champ. It had a 4cly. with a 5 speed trans. with high AND low range!!!! My racing buddy had a 1970 chevy pickup truck that always caught on fire at the starter!

We didn't have two pennies to rub together but always seemed to scrape up enough money to go racing at pacemakers on sat. night after gathering up parts all week long at ledbetters junkyard!

We raced in street class (yes, back then it was actually called street class!!) but thought we were pro stockers. Well, between me burning up clutches with 5 grand holeshots and my buddy's truck catching on fire in the staging lanes I don't think that we ever won anything, but man we sure had alot of FUN!!!!!!!!!

That is what bracket racing is all about folks, and I will never forget those days because I think that I had more fun back then than I have now. Let's just hope that we can support Pacemakers well enough that the future generation of racers will be able to have as much fun there as I have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S. Andy the red lights never go away, trust me!!!!!! Sad

Andy, I agree your right on, I am 15 minutes away from Trails and I tow up to Pacemakers because everybody is friendly and always helpful, but they will not give you a win and I was told if you don't go red once in a
while your not trying

I am glad that everyone took the post in the vain it was meant. Sorry Bargo I had to have fun with someone and you were the easy target cause you seem to give as well as you get. I have seen you at the track twice though once at PDP and once at NTR and you didn't have a shirt on either time. I look forward to coming up and racing with everyone I will be there in a couple weekends. Just look for the red junkyard mustang stop and say hi and have fun racing.
