I wanted to thank everyone that has been trying to help me locate the issues that I have been trying to phase out of my car this year. Even though the issue never truely presented itself until last Saturday it was really great how many ppl came over willingly to lend a hand or opinion as to what could have been wrong.

Now for the bad news...... for my pocketbook at least. When I was being towed down the track although I'm not sure, I thought that I had heard Neil over the loud speaker saying it was a head gasket that blew. Turns out, when I pulled the engine last night the gasket was fine. One piston was in hundreds of pieces, and the rod then poked a nice sized hole in the cylinder wall. On top of all that, the rod bearings were all turning or did turn after just 8 passes on them. Although I am glad the rod didnt go all the way through so that the track didnt get anything on it. I tried to pull over as quickly as I could in case it did.

So anyways, now I'm looking for lots of parts. I ran 7.20's on that engine and would like to go about the same or a little faster. So if anyone knows of any good deals on SBC short blocks, heads that would be good to use with a Victor intake, etc, I'm weighing my options right now and I'd appreciate the added knowledge. Thanks again to all those that helped before and to any that provide me some good info now.

Thanks for the compliment on the truck John. I try my best to keep her clean and glossy. Mr. Zolman is correct. I'm trying to run about the same or just a little quicker. I'm not sure how much more power 9 inch tires with leaf springs and traction bars can handle, especially for the limited amount of weight back there.

Michael,
I have a 377" short block that has about 12 runs on it. I will let it go for $900. It is a good "817" two bolt 400 block. Let me know. You can call my cell number if interested. 614-906-0356.

I want to thank everyone for their help with all the options i was presented with. I've gotten ahold of some good parts to start off with and hopefully I'll be able to make it out before the year ends, but if not I'll be ready for the beginning of next season at the very least. Thanks again to everyone for their offers and help.
