| as i was listening to the announcer at 42 rain us out on sat. my jaw dropped at the crap that was flowing out. lets catch everyone up to where we were in the program. i was in the second lane of street gettin ready to run first round, i was 3 cars back and had prolly 10-12 cars behind me. they were running my class down track when the rain came. maybe 4 pairs got down track. noone else in my class got to go down track after the rain started. they tell us that we all get a tech credit for the next race, everyone gets showup points, then, get ready for this... he said the cars that got to go down and won, still get the 10 points for winning that round. has anyone ever heard such a pile of crap like that before? it was an incomplete round. therefor the pairs that went down track should be null and void. right? |

Rainouts suck for everyone.
First, have you ever heard of a track that granted you both "participant" points for the event AND a tech credit for the rained out event? That's double-dipping in favor of the racer.
Only 2 pairs of cars ran in the class in question before the rain came. (For those trying to keep up, all of the other classes had run at least 1 round of eliminations before the rain.)
Hey, I've been in the pair in the waterbox in the past when the rain came and I was in the second lane to be pulled on this past Sunday, so I feel your pain.
When it comes to "fairness", I could take either side of the argument when it comes to how to deal with a partial round. It is tough to take away a round win from someone who earned it. It also puts some incentive in place to get yourself to the lanes when they are opened rather than hanging back and duck hunting.
Fortunately for you, the two people who took round 1 wins before the rains came are 7 and 11 rounds behind you in the standings with 2 races left to go, so I doubt it will have a huge impact in the overall season points.
Try swallowing the bitter pill of leading the points for 14 straight events, then give up the lead by 1 round in the next to the last race of the season... only to have that final point race get rained out. It happened to me last season. |

Rulemakers try to stay away from this kind of "specific" issue, but the following comes from page 138 of the 2008 IHRA rulebook under the category "Rainouts/Refunds"
runs that were made before session was rained out or canceled, will count. |

Anyways dont 42 have a website go and talk about it there.........haha |
This is how it is suppost to be... A rule book don't mean nothing it comes down to track owner in this case... To me that is like giving the last guy in line a bye cause he is the last car Seen that happen one time...
_________________ Wear your hard hat ur in a danger zone |

| biggest problem i have, is that im gonna miss the last points race because im goin to Indy with pacemakers. if it comes down to it, and i lose a position because of the 10 extra points some one got that i didnt get to race for. waiting to go in the lanes isnt any thing i ever do im usually within the first 5 cars in the second lane, i never go into the first one, only because i dont want to get pulled for a bye early in the rounds. i wouldve gone down in the rain if i knew they were giving out points to anyone who got down track. that rule that was pointed out looks like its worded for event qualifying to me. session rain out is different than event rain out. |

I remember a lot of PDP, TRP, and NRP (oops SREMP) racers were able to make it back home last year in time for Sunday's racing programs.
Good luck to you at Indy. |
