i could stand to lose a few pounds myself. How about taking my mufflers off and running just the headers? will i pick up much? also not running with my air cleaner on? and i might just think about buying a chevy. Thanks Bargo !

Take everything off the truck that isn't neccessary such as bumpers, mirrors, door panels, wheel wells, etc. The extra pounds on the car (or truck) add up and can make a definite difference. The biggest problem I see is knowing what you do will make enough of a difference before you spend the money. I do remember several cars last year that were slower than 13.99. Now if you were taking a 20.00 second car, someone may say something.

Well I am not sure what motor you are running, but I know in my mustang running 40 degree's of total timing picked up about a tenth. It could give you a start.

I picked up almost 3 tenths a few years ago just un-capping my headers. And you could possibly slow down by running without a breather, depending how your carb is adjusted lean/rich.
